Thanks to Westbank Library dog lover Susan Bushart and Divine Canines we have our very own Library Dogs. But why? What can they do?
Our Library Dogs like to read with children. Let's put it this way, they love children, the touch, the snuggles, and the sound of being read to, however tentatively. They make no judgments about the quality of anyone's reading, they just relax into it and listen for all they are worth.
What's that worth to your shy reader? Growing confidence and competence! The Library Dogs website, with which we are not affiliated, can help you fill in the pieces. This Divine Canine You Tube video might rock your world!
Is your child a kindergartner through a 3rd grader, reading at least a bit on her own, and interested in reading to a Library Dog?
Remember to bring a book to read!
Thanks so much for your interest, we're really excited about being able to offer this wonderful program! If you need more information email Kristi, our Programs Librarian or call the RefDesk at 314-3582 (Westbank) or 381-1403 (Laura's).
