Super exciting news! Westbank is starting an organic community garden! We’re envisioning this garden as a bit of a hybrid – part educational garden in partnership with Westlake High School, part edible community garden with library members as plot renters – and our garden’s success depends on *YOU*! The garden will be located at the Westbank Library, in the ~5000 square feet of land in front of the staff parking lot and running down Westbank Drive. Wondering what to do with that $1000 bill that no shop will break for you? Let us put it to work growing the best community garden around! (Smaller denominations gratefully accepted as well.) Email Alex Meyers for more information.

What does it take to make your library the Heart of the Community? Our visitors & members have great things to say about visiting us: you've said you like our book & film collection, our public computers, the staff, & our huge number of programs (literally thousands this year alone…& counting!). But what about the stuff that flies under your radar? To ensure that the library is fun, comfortable, clean, & safe there are lots of little things we make sure receive our utmost attention. Everything from A/C filters to hand sanitizer to copier paper, from public wi-fi to tissues to kids' stuffed animals, from coffee creamer to extra folding chairs to light bulbs...we keep an eye on it all! So what does it take to make your library the Heart of the Community? The details! Help us keep up with those details by participating in our 2011 Annual Giving Campaign; your tax-deductible donation will go toward all of these important details & more!
